Theta Xi Fraternity was founded on April 29, 1864 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Since that time we have initiated over sixty-four thousand brothers into the bonds of our brotherhood, and the future promises continuing success as we move through the twenty-first century. The purpose of Theta Xi is to provide a college home environment for its members in which fellowship and guidance lead to mental, moral, physical, and spiritual growth. To that end Theta Xi actively supports college and community efforts to make individual members and chapters more mature and useful units of society. Through its alumni and undergraduate leadership Theta Xi assists each member to develop:
- The highest G.P.A. he is capable of achieving
- Habits that lead to better mental and physical health
- Sincerity in his association with others and confidence in himself
- Responsibility to chapter, college, community, and country
- Leadership that comes from practicing democratic self-government
- Interests and activities outside regular studies that employ spare time to advantage
- Spiritual understanding that provides a reservoir of strength to draw upon when faced with adverse conditions
