Theta Xi is fortunate to have more than 1250 members who have been initiated into Mu Chapter at Iowa State. Hundreds of these men graduated and left Ames to pursue successful careers in a variety of professions.
Our PastIt has been said, "A chapter is only as strong as the support it receives from its alumni." Throughout history, Mu Chapter has been fortunate to have had key alumni who have shared their time and treasures to protect and ensure the future of our chapter's legacy. Without those alumni, who have served as advisors and who guided a chapter of forty, fifty, or even sixty active chapter members, Mu Chapter would not have provided the opportunity for so many men to experience Theta Xi.
Our FutureAs the chapter focuses its efforts on leadership training and application, there will be a number of changes. One of those changes will be the way alumni support the undergraduate chapter. Our future demands that a wider, more diverse array of alumni serve this new chapter. The days of expecting one person to serve as advisor and guide the chapter have passed —
The new model is based on establishing a team of five to six alumni from different generations to serve as mentors to the key chapter officers.
A new program, called “Partners Advancing Leadership” has been developed to identify, recruit, and train volunteer alumni. Their role will be to serve as a cheerleader, confidant, and advisor to one chapter leader. As a mentor, he will have the opportunity to develop a relationship based on mutual respect and trust with a current undergraduate brother. In the process, the alumnus will enhance the personal development of an undergraduate while enjoying the personal satisfaction of providing this support to a young man during his college years.
Though Theta Xi was founded to develop undergraduate men, part of the Fraternity’s mission is to perpetuate lifelong friendships and dedication to Theta Xi as an organization.
Now it is our turn to re-establish a place where we, as alumni, can help young men have the same opportunities we had to develop lifelong friendships and commitment to our brotherhood!
Mu Alumni AssociationThe Mu Alumni Association exists to facilitate alumni communication, conduct events to bring alumni together with undergraduates, provide a quality house for chapter members and to support the undergraduate chapter’s operations.
